Vince's Death Can Dethrone The Leones As Fire Country's Focus In Season 4
Season 3 ending without a clear victim could have been considered hopeful, but the news of Billy Burke and Stephanie Arcila exiting before Fire Country season 4 being released on the same day as season 3’s finale all but confirmed Vince will likely die. This can be an unimaginable loss for everyone, but it can also herald Eve’s family’s return.
Elroy Edwards & Family Need To Return To Support Eve With Vince's Looming Death
First introduced in Fire Country season 3, episode 5 through Eve’s reconnection with her brother Elijah, the focus on the Edwards was immediately foreshadowed as incredibly tricky. Eve’s family didn’t appear until Fire Country season 3’s midseason finale, and it was clear from beforehand that it would have been a difficult reunion because Eve never discussed them after becoming estranged.
Despite Eve’s willingness to mend fences, Elroy was still evidently hurt by her decision to leave the ranch life behind and choose firefighting, especially as he viewed that as Eve choosing the Leone family over the Edwards. Fire Country season 3, episodes 8 and 9 helped them reconnect and save the ranch, but it didn’t fully explore their problems.
How Vince's Death Can Bittersweetly Resolve Elroy's Feud With Him
Fire Country season 3 revealed that Eve ended her relationship with Francine because she perceived her as opposed to firefighting, which was what she wanted to revolve her life around. It’s easy to believe Eve would have shut out her family if she suspected they didn’t support her firefighting, while spending time with the Leones to keep Riley’s memory close.
This effectively kick-started Elroy’s problem with Vince and the Leones, leading to years of the Edwards refusing to interact with Cal Fire because that meant having to deal with the Leones in Edgewater. All this animosity was evident in Fire Country season 3, but Vince’s untimely death also means Elroy won’t have anyone towards whom to direct it.
Fire Country season 4 premieres on CBS at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Vince’s inevitable death will bring up unfinished business for several characters. However, in Elroy’s case, it can also get the Edwards patriarch to reflect on all the time he wasted despising the Leones when he could have just faced the conflict head-on. Doing so with the Leones who remain can bring Elroy some closure in Fire Country season 4.
