Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf had some choice words for the Cleveland Browns are Sunday’s victory.
The Steelers‘ 23-9 victory was Metcalf’s first taste of the AFC North rivalry following an offseason trade to Pittsburgh. He enjoyed himself during the convincing win that moved the
“I don’t want to get into divisional rivalries or anything of that nature. But I mean, it was fun kicking the Browns‘ (expletive) on Sunday,” Metcalf said,
Metcalf had some room to talk after a solid performance. He posted four catches for 95 yards and a touchdown against the Browns
.
The Steelers now lead the AFC North with a 4-1 record. The Bengals are 2-4 but are playing without their starting quarterback, Joe Burrow. The Ravens — who were the preseason favorite in the division — have stumbled to 1-5, losing their last two convincingly with two-time MVP Lamar Jackson sidelined. The
Browns fell to 1-5 after their loss to the Steelers on Sunday.
Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin Also Took Shot at Browns
Metcalf was not the only member of the Steelers to shade the
“Andrew Berry must be a lot smarter than me or us,”
Tomlin said, “because it doesn’t make sense to me to trade a quarterback that you think enough of to make your opening-day starter to a division opponent that’s hurting in that area. But that’s just my personal feelings.”
The Browns landed a fifth-round pick in return for Flacco, whom they benched ahead of Week 6 in favor of rookie Dillon Gabriel. The Bengals, meanwhile, acquired a veteran quarterback they hope can help stabilize their offense with Burrow sidelined.
“It certainly made sense from Cincinnati’s perspective,” Tomlin said. “He can throw the football, and he’s always been able to throw the football — arm strength, arm accuracy, anticipatory passer, fluid movement through progressions. That’s always been his game.”
Flacco went 1-3 as the starter in Cleveland, passing just 815 yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions.
Browns Reeling After Loss to Steelers
The Browns have bigger problems than a division rival talking some smack. Cleveland’s offense is a mess, ranking near the bottom of the
NFL in just about every category. The Browns have not scored more than 17 points in 11 straight games dating back to last season.
“For us the focus is on being better as an offense, and that goes into a bunch of different areas,”
Stefanski said. “I know I can be better for this football team. I know I can certainly be better for this offense. But our focus is on making sure that we all do our part in getting this thing going.”
The Browns have a chance to get on track this week as they host the 1-5 Miami Dolphins. Cleveland is a 2.5-point favorite for the matchup, per ESPN BET.
NBA analyst says the quiet part out loud about Coby White
The Chicago Bulls need to make a decision when it comes to Coby White, as he is going to hit the free agency market this summer and doesn’t have an extension. If they aren’t going to sign him, they should trade him. But they haven’t done anything yet. Kevin O’Connor spoke with Kenny Beecham about it on
“There’s a chance,” O’Connor said with a smirk after Beecham pitched the Bulls as a League Pass darling team. “I mean, I love Matas Buzelis. I love Buzelis. I mean, I would love to get rid of Vucevic and Zach Collins, and trade Coby White for a haul if you’re just not going to sign him. Like, what’s going on with Coby White, Kenny? Do the Bulls want him or not? Strange. Very strange. Because I feel like he’s a guy that you’d want to have as a keeper.”
So, what are the Bulls doing with White?
What are Bulls doing with Coby White?
White only has one year left on his contract—this year. Chicago hasn’t handed him an extension yet, which could allow him to enter unrestricted free agency this summer.
Losing White for nothing in free agency would be an unmitigated disaster for a Bulls front office that has been absolutely disastrous. Even during his pitch to call the Bulls a fun League Pass team (which O’Connor’s above quote was in response to), Beecham references the front office’s issues.
“When you think about League Pass darlings, teams that are not going to win a ton of games, but are going to be fun to watch,” Beecham said. “High pace, good three-point shooting, great passing, good movement, takeover games occasionally. Buzzer-beaters, you know we got those between Josh Giddey and Coby White. I think—Listen, we all understand that the front office has been really bad over the last five years. We all agree there. We don’t know where this team is going. But if we’re looking at the product as is, it’s gonna be a fun watch. My pitch is that we’re going to be fun to watch, and people should tune in.”
If the Bulls wanted to trade White this season, they could probably get a decent return. But at the same time, he’s a very talented player who could help them move forward into the future. Yet he doesn’t have a new contract…
