Steelers' Cam Heyward still seeking new deal despite return to practice, per Brooke Pryor
Cam Heyward has returned to practice for the Pittsburgh Steelers — but his pursuit of a restructured deal may not be over just yet, at least according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor.
Following Heyward's full participation on Tuesday, some assumed the veteran defender had finally put this contract drama to bed — but that appears to be far from the case.
"Heyward's return to practice, though, doesn't signal the end of his desire for a renegotiation, a source told ESPN," Pryor wrote.
Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo revealed a few days ago that Pittsburgh wouldn't consider giving him a new contract altogether, but claimed the team would consider advancing his 2026 roster bonus only as a "last resort."
While many have been quick to criticize the 36-year-old Heyward for seeking a restructured deal just one year after signing a new extension with Pittsburgh, he put together one of the best years of his career in 2024 — despite being outside the top 20 in terms of DT salaries.
