Jordan Love has played at a high level since taking over for Aaron Rodgers as the Green Bay Packers' starting quarterback. However, he is looking to take the next step into elite status.
While the third-year starter has led the franchise to back-to-back postseason appearances, he was ranked as the 13th-best quarterback in a preseason poll conducted by The Athletic. Love had the perfect response and believes he is at the same level as the players ranked ahead of him.
"What those guys do at such a high level is just consistency with everything," Love told Jeff Howe of The Athletic. "I know I'm just as good as those guys and can be even better, so I think it comes down to going out there and making those plays on Sunday."
Jordan Love believes he can become one of NFL's elite QBs, and he's right
The 26th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft has appeared in 32 games since becoming a full-time starter, throwing for 7,548 yards, 57 touchdowns, and 22 interceptions while completing 63.7 percent of his pass attempts. He was able to lead an offensive unit that finished eighth in scoring offense and fifth in total yards in 2024.
Love has thrown for two touchdowns and five interceptions in his past two postseason games, both of which Green Bay lost. He did, however, have a 272-yard, three-touchdown performance in his first playoff start
Green Bay hopes Love is able to take the next step as it looks to win a fifth Super Bowl -- and first since 2010.
Love is tied with 2024 NFL MVP Josh Allen for the fifth-most passing touchdowns over the past two seasons, while ranking 10th in passing yards over that span. Despite his strong numbers, it is clear that the Packers star has work to do before being considered elite.
He has yet to make a Pro Bowl and is tied for the seventh-most interceptions thrown while ranking 25th in completion percentage since becoming a starter. Additionally, he has struggled in two of his three career postseason starts, throwing for just 678 yards, five touchdowns, and five interceptions while completing 64.8 percent of his pass attempts.
While coaches and executives have Love as a middle-of-the-pack quarterback, oddsmakers are much higher on him entering the 2025 season. He is tied with Jalen Hurts and Justin Herbert for the sixth-best MVP odds, trailing only Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, and Jayden Daniels.
Each of those quarterbacks ranked in the top nine in The Athletic poll. Love will look to prove that he is on the same level as those players, as he revealed his expectation is to lead the Packers to another title.
