Jonathon Johnson Discusses the Pressures of Living in the Public Eye: ‘It Comes with a Cost’
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation got to know and love Jonathon Johnson on Season 21 of “The Bachelorette.”
He’s currently giving love another shot on the beaches of “Bachelor in Paradise” Season 10, where he’s formed a platonic partnership with Lea Cayanan.
Jonathon loves keeping fans updated with his life on social media and often shares about his time with other Bachelor Nation stars.

This week, he took to Instagram to open up and discuss the pressures he feels of living in the public eye.
In a new video, he said, “A little over a year ago my entire life changed and I never talked about it. I went from being a normal 27 year old dude to being stopped in public for pictures. I was being paid to go to events, I was getting flown out places, I mean life was pretty good. And it still is. But it comes with a cost.”
Jonathan continued, sharing more about how things have changed for him over the past couple years.
“A lot of people don’t realize that all that love also comes with a lot of pressure,” he said, “I felt this need to be everything that the public built me up to be. I forgot I was that normal 27 year old dude that makes stupid mistakes and wears his heart on his sleeve. I literally tried to be perfect for everybody else but myself, and I’m over it.”

The Bachelor Nation star also revealed how social media has changed for him and what he plans to do with it moving forward.
He admitted, “I used to have so much fun with social media, I used to post things that made me laugh, things that I was doing on a day to day basis. And now, I don’t. I post out of fear of rejection that people are gonna hate. And you know what, I’m over it. And anybody that’s willing to hate is somebody that I would not want to switch lives with anyway. So from here on out, we’re gonna have fun with social media again and you’re gonna get me from my point of view. Not anybody else’s.”
We’re proud of Jonathon for doing what makes him happy and we appreciate his vulnerability. We’re cheering you on, Jonathon!
