Intriguing Storyline' Emerging for Edmonton Training Camp for One Underrated Player
Atro Leppänen was signed by the Edmonton Oilers this past April, and now he's emerging as one of the team's most intriguing players ahead of training camp.
The Edmonton Oilers have been rather busy this off-season, as the team are likely to have a new look top-nine that includes Andrew Mangiapane, Isaac Howard and Matthew Savoie as the team looks to have gotten younger and quicker.
However, heading into training camp, there are many positions up for grabs as the Edmonton Oiler s look to go one step further than the last two seasons as they aim to capture the Stanley Cup for the first time in over 30 years.
Atro Leppanen shaping up as the Oilers most intriguing player
One player that comes into camp with plenty of intriguing is record breaking Finnish defenseman Atro Leppanen, who comes to North America for the first time since putting up an incredible 2024/25 campaign.
The 26-year old is a late bloomer who was signed by the Oilers in April of this past season, and after tallying 21 goals and 63 points in the top league in Finland this past season, it's easy to see why there's plenty of hype around the young star.
While it's likely that Leppanen is going to start the 2025/26 season in Bakersfield with the AHL squad, the explosive young offensive minded blue liner has the chance to push for a spot on the Oilers back end, which is severely lacking offense beyond Evan Bouchard and Jake Walman.
At 26-years of age, Leppanen was a late bloomer that only has two seasons at the top level in Finland under his belt, but with all of the offensive talent in the world, he's a name that Oilers fans shouldn't be taking lightly heading into the 2025/26 campaign.
