Fan Poll Votes Aaron Rodgers NFL’s ‘Most Annoying Player’
There is no question that Pittsburgh Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers is a different kind of person. Whether it’s the ayahuasca retreats, “darkness” retreats, or how he speaks to the media, Rodgers is one-of-a-kind when it comes to NFL quarterbacks. But when you’re a four-time NFL Most Valuable Player, you probably can get away with it.
Well, it seems like NFL fans may disagree. According to Forbes.com, the Action Network polled more than 3,000 fans, and Aaron Rodgers was voted the most annoying player in the NFL. Despite there being well over 1,600 players in the NFL (53 players on the active roster times 32 teams equals 1,696 players), Rodgers received 24 percent of the vote. Maybe fans still remember the Discount Double-Check commercials?
Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce received the second-most votes at 17 percent. Kelce’s teammate, QB Patrick Mahomes, rounded out the top three with 11 percent of the vote. (Another State Farm commercial guy!) These three players were the only three to receive at least 10 percent of the vote.
Action Network also broke down the poll by fan bases represented. Rodgers not only, ahem, won the at-large voting, but he had the most fan bases vote him the most annoying player with 21. That included his former team, the Green Bay Packers, as well as Steelers fans in the poll.
Steelers fans can take heart, though. Even if they agree that Rodgers is the most annoying player in the NFL, his teammates don’t. Rookie QB Will Howard even spoke to former college teammate and Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka about how much Rodgers has been helping him in training camp.
And according to former NFL RB Marshawn Lynch, Rodgers has always been a great leader. The two of them played together at the University of California. According to Lynch, he screwed up during a play, and Rodgers didn’t hesitate to address it. But when a coach took interest in the conversation, Rodgers took the fall for the mistake. He then returned to correcting Lynch. That’s the kind of leader you want to follow. Someone who will take the fall with the higher-ups while still motivating you to do better next time.
And if Aaron Rodgers helps the Steelers win a playoff game in 2025, I highly doubt the fan base will consider him to be the most annoying player next time.
As a side note, Cleveland Browns fans did not vote for a Steelers player in this poll. Instead, they voted for their own quarterback, Deshaun Watson. It’s stunning that fan base voted for a Browns player rather than a Steelers player.
