Falcons' Kyle Pitts Recognized as Leading Trade Prospect for 2025
Heading into his fifth NFL season, Kyle Pitts remains one of the league’s great “what ifs.” The Atlanta Falcons drafted him fourth overall in 2021 with the expectation that he would redefine the tight end position. Instead, his career has been marked by flashes of brilliance and long stretches of inconsistency. Now, entering the final year of his rookie contract, Fox Sports has named Pitts one of the top trade candidates of 2025.
Why Pitts’ Future in Atlanta Looks Uncertain

GettyIn the 2024 NFL season, Kyle Pitts recorded 47 receptions for 602 yards and 4 touchdowns in 17 games.
The Falcons offense has been reshaped around two players: Bijan Robinson and Drake London. Robinson is already viewed as one of the NFL’s most dynamic running backs. While London is emerging as a true No. 1 receiver.
Despite his unique size and speed profile, Pitts has struggled to translate potential into consistent production. According to Pro Football Focus, Pitts graded 59.6 in 2024, which landed him at 33rd out of 37 TEs. That’s brutal for someone drafted ahead of stars like Ja’Marr Chase and Micah Parsons.
For Atlanta’s front office, the question isn’t just whether Pitts can bounce back, but whether the resources required to extend him could be better spent elsewhere. That’s why his name is circulating as a trade candidate.
Who Would Be Interested In Pitts?

GettyKyle Pitts career has been plagued by injuries, including a torn MCL and PCL in 2022 and, most recently, a strained foot muscle that sidelined him during 2025 OTAs.
If Atlanta is down on Pitts, other teams may see him as a project with massive upside. Teams like the Packers, Jets, and Jaguars (all mentioned by Fox Sports) have different reasons for being interested.
- Green Bay could pair him with a young quarterback and an unproven receiver corps. With the hope his versatility unlocks new dimensions and help them become a Super Bowl contender.
- The Jets, now with quarterback Justin Fields under center, might view him as the kind of high ceiling pass catcher who could elevate their offense overnight. Bringing in Pitts would also give them a more proven starting TE over projected starter second round rookie Mason Taylor.
- And Jacksonville, trying to revive Trevor Lawrence’s trajectory, could see Pitts as a low risk, high reward complement to Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr., especially after cutting TE Evan Engram, who went on to sign with the Denver Broncos.
Trading Kyle Pitts would mean admitting that their former top five pick never became the cornerstone they expected. At the same time, it would signal that the franchise is fully invested in building around Robinson and London, with resources allocated toward supporting second year quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
The decision won’t be easy. Pitts is still young enough to become a star elsewhere, and Atlanta risks watching him thrive in another uniform. But the fact that he’s already being labeled a top trade candidate shows the reality: The Falcons future may no longer include the player once thought to be their next generational talent.
