Eagles reporter shares cold hard truth about 2025 team fans don't want to hear
Everyone within Philadelphia believes the Eagles have the roster to repeat as Super Bowl champions, but that doesn't mean the team doesn't have their flaws that could hurt them during the season.
94 WIP Eagles reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks shared on social media his breakdown of how he grades each of the Eagles' position groups, with the categories being "Bad", "Average", and "Elite." The good news is that Shorr-Parks believes the Eagles' running back, wide receiver, offensive line, and linebacker are considered elite and among the best in the NFL.
Here's where it's not necessarily bad news, but more of a reality check for the Eagles. The defensive line and secondary are considered a little bit above average, but the weak points to the roster.
Here is how I view the Eagles roster heading into the 2025 season
Their RB, WR, OL units are the best in the NFL. Top 5 QB. Plenty of questions on defense. pic.twitter.com/cKGo3QfjS6— Eliot Shorr-Parks (@EliotShorrParks) August 28, 2025
Shorr-Parks isn't wrong about defensive line and secondary being questions on the Eagles
Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has stated his concerns about each group in his own way. Fangio has discussed how he wanted to see more from the backup edge rushers. He called out cornerback Adoree' Jackson to step up, and there was a reason the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans didn't re-sign him about four years each.
Every Eagles fan was hoping that the CB2 position battle would have a clear winner, and it didn't in the worst way possible. Kelee Ringo was disappointing to the point that he got demoted in the final week of training camp, and Jackson won the job, but he also had his own struggles. Jakorian Bennett, Cooper DeJean, and Mac McWilliams all got in the mix at the end of camp as well.
Even the safety position in the secondary has its concerns, with Reed Blankenship being the only reliable guy. Rookie second-round pick Andrew Mukuba could potentially be great, but there's an unknown there. Sydney Brown hasn't played enough in Fangio's scheme to be excited about him. Marcus Epps just signed with the team, and who knows how he will look coming off his ACL injury.
There is hope that each position group will improve throughout the season, but it could ultimately become a concern. Don't be surprised if Eagles general manager Howie Roseman looks at improving these positions through signings and trades throughout the season.
