Dodgers' $74M lingering injury may be the only reason Andy Pages is starting during World Series
The Los Angeles Dodgers were flat-out embarrassed by the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 1, losing 11-4. It was their worst outing of October and didn’t resemble the dominant team fans have come to expect. The Blue Jays came ready to play, while the Dodgers clearly did not. After the loss, Derek Jeter issued a warning.

“Tomorrow is a must-win for the Los Angeles Dodgers. You do not want to go down to a team like this having to win four out of five,” Jeter said.
One of the biggest storylines of the series has been Andy Pages and his continued struggles at the plate. Heading into the game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts made it clear that Pages’ spot in the lineup was in jeopardy.
“Dave Roberts says he's 'keeping a close eye' on Andy Pages and has considered making a change if his struggles continue,” Dodgers Blue posted.
On Saturday, Pages went hitless once again, leading many to call for Roberts to make a move.
“Andy Pages grounds to second and is now 3-40 this postseason. It's been time for a change,” Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain posted.
However, there may be one key reason why Pages hasn’t been benched yet — the injury to Tommy Edman.
“Edman in CF, Call in LF and Kiké at 2B makes way too much sense. I guess Edman's ankle must still be pretty bad if he can't be an option in CF,” Dodgers writer Blake Harris wrote.
Edman has been battling a nagging ankle injury, which may be keeping him out of center field and, in turn, keeping Pages in the lineup. The second-year player is struggling at the worst possible time for Los Angeles.
There’s little room for error now, and Edman’s veteran presence would make sense if he were healthy. But if his ankle limits his mobility, there’s not much Roberts can do.
"He's Not Going To Suit Up" 49ers Face Sudden Loss Hours Before Kickoff Vs Texans - Gridiron Heroics

The San Francisco 49ers made an unexpected roster announcement Sunday morning, ruling out one of their key starters just hours before their Week 8 matchup. The change alters the team’s offensive outlook and forces a veteran backup into action.

That starter is quarterback Brock Purdy, who has officially been ruled out due to a toe injury, the team confirmed on its final inactive list. The decision comes after Purdy was limited in practice throughout the week and listed as questionable entering the weekend.
Hours before kickoff, 49ers lose Brock Purdy for Texans Matchup
Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters the injury had not improved enough for Purdy to play. “We tried to see how he felt this morning, but he just couldn’t push off comfortably,” Shanahan said. “It’s not worth the risk at this point in the season.”
Veteran Mac Jones will start in Purdy’s place against the Houston Texans, marking his first start since joining the 49ers in the offseason. Jones has taken first-team reps in practice during Purdy’s limited sessions and will lead the offense behind an offensive line that has struggled with consistency this year.
Purdy, 25, has missed multiple games this season with a lingering turf-toe–related injury to his right foot. In the five games he has played, he has completed

San Francisco has not provided a timetable for Purdy’s return, though team officials said he will be re-evaluated early next week.
