Browns Add Veteran Cornerback to Active Roster Ahead of Steelers Game
The Cleveland Browns have been a very busy team over the past couple of weeks. With the front office swinging three different trades recently, that has resulted in the roster continuously changing on the fly. The

Campbell will draw the start alongside Denzel Ward in Week 6, but he’s going to need some time to get up to speed with the new defensive scheme he has suddenly found himself a part of. As a result, the team is adding some more depth at cornerback before their upcoming contest in the form of Tre Avery.
Browns Elevate Tre Avery from Practice Squad to Active Roster
Avery didn’t get selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, but he has managed to establish himself as a depth option at cornerback throughout his time in the league. Avery initially broke into the league with the Tennessee Titans, which is where he spent the first three seasons of his career, appearing in 38 games, five of which were starts.
Late in the 2024 season, the Titans opted to release Avery, but he was quickly scooped up by the San Francisco 49ers. He ultimately didn’t suit up for them, though, as he got released in early August before spending time with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers throughout the month. He didn’t make either of their final rosters, though, and after he got released by the Bucs, he eventually found his way to the Browns’ practice squad.
Since landing with Cleveland, Avery has appeared in two games, racking up four tackles during his limited time on the field. Now, Avery has been elevated to the active roster
“The Cleveland Browns have elevated CB Tre Avery from the practice squad,” the team announced on its official website Saturday afternoon.
Browns Looking to Get Back in the Win Column in Week 6

The 2025 season is only five weeks old, but it’s already been a bit of a wild ride for the Browns this year. They have moved on from Joe Flacco as their starting quarterback, trading him to the Cincinnati Bengals last week after Dillon Gabriel shined in his first professional start. Now, he will be leading the team for the foreseeable future, with the hope being that he can solidify himself as the team’s quarterback of the future.
In Week 6, Cleveland has a tough matchup on its hands against one of its division rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers. After enjoying their bye week in Week 5, the Steelers will be returning to action and looking for a win on Sunday, and they will be heavily favored to do so. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET, and the Browns will be looking to play spoiler and help Gabriel earn the first win of his young career.
Seahawks Struggling with Brutal Inactives List Before Week 6 Clash with Jaguars

The Seattle Seahawks' offense has been good so far this season. In Week 6, the unit is going to have to be as good as it was in Week 5 when Seattle lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 38-35. Mike Macdonald's defense isn't bad, but it is extremely banged up.
The Jacksonville Jaguars, who host the Seahawks in Week 6, are an improved team, too. The Jags are 4-1 and tied atop the AFC South. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been far from great, but he does have ability. Against such a weakened Seattle defense, any QB might show they have that ability.
The problem is that Seattle ruled out edge rusher Derick Hall on the final injury report for Week 6, and he has been good against the run and the pressure on the passer this year. His absence alone would affect what Seattle wants to do.
Seattle Seahawks announce inactives for Week 6 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars
Worse, there was seemingly little hope that cornerbacks Devon Witherspoon and Riq Woolen, as well as Pro Bowl safety Julian Love, were going to play in Jacksonville. The Seahawks didn't have any of those players in the second half of Week 5's game, and things were ugly. After Woolen left early in the second half, for instance, Seattle gave up 25 of the 38 points they allowed versus the Buccaneers.
On Saturday, Woolen was officially ruled out for Week 6. In his place, the team elevated veteran cornerback Shaquill Griffin from the practice squad.
Sure, Trevor Lawrence is no Baker Mayfield, but if Lawrence is throwing against a Seattle defense that resembles one 12s might see in the preseason, Lawrence might be Mayfield-like. Can the Seahawks outscore the Jaguars? They might need to.
At least, edge rusher DeMarcus Lawrence will return against the Jaguars, and that should help, especially against the run. In Hall's absence, Lawrence will need to have more quarterback pressures than he had earlier in the season. He also needs to stay healthy.
The Seattle Seahawks will announce their inactives for Week 6 an hour and a half before the game, but 12s can assume that five of them will be Hall, Love, Witherspoon, Woolen, and offensive tackle Josh Jones. Four of those players are key to the defense, and Seattle might not be able to survive Week 6 without them.
