Tom Brady’s Appearance at Raiders-49ers Preseason Game Turns Heads
Even though he’s retired from the NFL now, it’s been a busy offseason for legendary quarterback Tom Brady. While he is preparing for his second season in the broadcast booth with Fox, he also recently saw a statue of himself get unveiled at Gillette Stadium ahead of the New England Patriots’ preseason opener. During the 2024 season, Brady also officially became a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Simply put, Brady is a busy guy who is juggling quite a few commitments, even in retirement. That’s why his decision to attend the Raiders’ preseason contest against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday afternoon caught so much attention, as Brady continues to showcase his involvement with Las Vegas.

By now, the story of Brady’s playing career is well known. A sixth-round pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, Brady emerged from out of nowhere to become the greatest player in the history of the league. The former Michigan Wolverine led the Patriots to six Super Bowl championships before departing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he immediately won the seventh title of his career.
When he finally decided to call it a career after the 2022 season, Brady was the NFL’s undisputed GOAT. While unretirement rumors swirled around him, it eventually became clear that he wasn’t returning to the league as a player. However, it didn’t take long for him to return to the NFL in a different capacity.
While Brady’s highly discussed pivot to the broadcast booth drew the majority of the attention when it came to his post-playing career, he also quickly looked to become a part of the Raiders ownership group. After becoming a minority owner of the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA, Brady developed a relationship with Mark Davis, who is the majority owner of both the Aces and the Raiders.
That set the wheels in motion for Brady to eventually become a minority owner with the Raiders. While he isn’t involved in the front office or coaching staff, Brady’s impact inside the building has been hard to miss, according to reports, particularly when it comes to their roster construction. Further proof that Brady was involved in Las Vegas’ day-to-day operations arrived on Saturday when he pulled up and watched the team’s preseason contest with the 49ers.

It’s been a busy offseason for Las Vegas, beyond Brady’s new role with the team. They made some sweeping changes throughout the organization, with their two biggest moves seeing them hire Pete Carroll to be their new head coach and bringing Geno Smith in to be their new quarterback in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks.
There are still several holes on the Raiders roster, but there’s no doubt that the overall talent level of their roster has increased drastically. Competing for a playoff spot in 2025 is going to be tough to accomplish, but the team knows that they aren’t going to immediately emerge as a Super Bowl contender. Brady is well aware of what it takes to win a championship, and Las Vegas is hoping his hands-on approach can help them turn things around over the next few years.
