‘The Walking Dead’ Fans Face Loss as Netflix Drops Three Popular Shows From It's Lineup
Fans of The Walking Dead universe have some tough news ahead. On August 19, Netflix will remove three major shows from its lineup.
This includes all eight seasons of Fear the Walking Dead, the first season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, and the only season so far of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. It’s not entirely clear why these shows are leaving Netflix, but it looks like the streaming service’s deal with AMC might have ended.
Other AMC shows like Dark Winds, Interview with the Vampire, and Mayfair Witches are also leaving Netflix. Interestingly, another spin-off, The Walking Dead: Dead City, isn’t on the list and will stay on Netflix for now.
Netflix became a second home for The Walking Dead shows starting in January when the spin-offs first appeared on the platform. Both longtime fans and new viewers enjoyed watching the stories inspired by Robert Kirkman’s comics come to life on screen. All three shows did well, making it into Netflix’s Top 10 lists. Even though they’re leaving Netflix, fans can still watch these shows on AMC’s own streaming service, AMC+.
At San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, there was some important news for fans of Norman Reedus’ character, Daryl Dixon.
His spin-off show was renewed for a fourth and final season. With season three coming soon, it looks like the story is heading toward a big finish. The final season will also bring back Melissa McBride as Carol, Daryl’s longtime friend in the series.
Meanwhile, The Walking Dead: Dead City, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan, got a green light for a third season. This show follows the intense story of friends-turned-enemies in New York City.
There’s also The Ones Who Live, which came out after the main show ended. It focuses on Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) as they try to reunite. Even though it was called a miniseries, Scott M. Gimple, the head of the franchise, hinted that there might be a second season in the future.
So, if you want to catch Fear the Walking Dead, Daryl Dixon, or The Ones Who Live on Netflix, make sure to watch them before they disappear on August 19.
