The most interesting thing to come from Saturday’s flurry of Dolphins trade deadline rumors had nothing to do with a trade at all
Saturday night was a busy, busy time to be a Miami Dolphins fan on social media. A swarm of rumors and reports surrounding the team emerged — including input from all of the major media heavy hitters. Reports detailed who is on the trade block, who is likely to move, who the team is now willing to listen to but needs to be blown away with offers for, and so on. It certainly feels like interim GM Champ Kelly is working the media machine to his advantage to try to drum up as much interest and offers as possible after taking over for Chris Grier.
But amid the "will they, won't they" around Jaylen Waddle and the continued focus on the pass rush group, one report had some oddly placed insight on another Dolphins starter that had nothing to do with a trade at all — quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's status with the team was folded into NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport's intel.
And it seems all things are on the table, including before the end of this year's slate of games.
Ian Rapoport appears to open the door for a Tua Tagovailoa benching in 2025 amid flurry of trade rumors
"If nothing changes, it is reasonable that Miami would consider a QB change. Zach Wilson has resumed his role as the No. 2 QB, and he has experience with 33 starts while with the Jets. Wilson is one option. Seventh-round rookie Quinn Ewers impressed enough to replace Wilson for one game recently as Tagovailoa's primary backup, and he's come on in practice, as well.
The possibility that Ewers could play meaningful snaps if Tagovailoa continues to struggle should not be discounted. Tagovailoa's play would have to really fall off for Miami to turn to either Wilson or Ewers, but a potential benching is not off the table at some point this season."
Dodgers Postseason Hero Tommy Edman Sends Huge Message Heading Into October

Tommy Edman sent a big message with a home run in the Dodgers latest win

The Los Angeles Dodgers are closing in on another National League West division title, as their 7-5 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday shrunk their magic number down to three. Perhaps even more important, though, is the fact that postseason hero Tommy Edman appears to be heating up at the perfect time once again.
Throughout the 2025 campaign, the Dodgers have been hit hard by injuries, with Edman being a part of that group. However, they have gotten several key players back recently, and with the postseason right around the corner, that could help Los Angeles on its quest to repeat as the World Series champion this season.
Dave Roberts Gushes Over Tommy Edman
Edman emerged from out of nowhere to become a hero for the Dodgers in the postseason last year, as he ended up winning NLCS MVP honors to help get L.A. to the World Series. Once they got there, they took down the New York Yankees in five games, giving Edman the first championship ring of his career.
In 2025, Edman got off a red-hot start, but injuries eventually played a role in cooling him off. After missing over a month of action, Edman returned to the field earlier in September, but it has taken him awhile to shake off some of the rust at the plate. However, that may have changed on Saturday, as he smacked his first home run since July as part of Los Angeles’ most recent win.
As he has shown frequently during his time with the Dodgers, Edman can heat up in a hurry, and with the postseason right around the corner, that could be just what Los Angeles needs to go on a run. After his latest big hit for L.A., manager Dave Roberts dished out some high praise for Edman as he looks to get back on track after his latest injury woes.
“I know his at-bat quality is a lot better than the performance,” Roberts said of Edman. “He’s hitting the ball hard, he’s taking good at-bats, that’s the main thing. But obviously, today, to hit a homer was big for him, but ever since he’s come back, he’s been huge for us.”
Dodgers Looking to Finish Off Four-Game Sweep of Giants on Sunday

For much of the second half of the season, the San Diego Padres have given the Dodgers a run for their money at the top of the NL West. After winning their past four games, though, Los Angeles has built up a four-game lead, which may be insurmountable for San Diego with just a few games left in the regular season.
Three of those wins have come in the Dodgers’ current series against the Giants, and on Sunday, they will go for the sweep over another one of their longtime division rivals. Emmet Sheehan will take the mound for Los Angeles, with Trevor McDonald earning the start for San Francisco. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET, and L.A. will be motivated to inch even closer to their division title by picking up a win in this one.
