While Bode and Sharon are understandably left reeling from Vince's death, Max exclusively shared with Good Housekeeping how this loss will affect his character in more ways than one.
"I think Vince's death leaves a huge void for Bode," he told us. "It leaves a lot of questions for him to be like, 'Where do I go from here career-wise?' But also, when you experience a loss like that and you're someone who already struggles day-to-day, we'll get to see him fight through the grief and how he copes with it."

That's not all Max had to say about Bode's future, though. Viewers also watched as the former prisoner tried to step into his dad's shoes at Station 42, which came with both jealousy and doubt that he's not qualified to become the next chief.
But as Max added, Bode's not necessarily trying to take over his dad's role at the fire station. Bode's just coming to terms with what his legacy is as both a Leone and a first responder.
"As much as Bode didn't want to be a Leone, the longer we're with him, the more he starts to realize he is one," Max noted. "There's a big part of him that's Sharon, and there's a big part that's Vince. Now, he's pushing and pulling against that, because even though he's fought to be someone else, he can't deny the person that he is."
What's more, executive producer/showrunner Tia Napolitano commented how Bode's loss of his dad will force him to fight against the inmate we all met when the show began back in 2022.
"The death of Vince felt like an impactful loss the audience could experience along with our characters in real time," she told us over email. "It felt like a return to the roots of this show, with a fresh spin ... the way Bode ultimately handles himself, with twists and turns along the way, will really show us how far Bode has come from the Bode we met in the pilot."
