Spencer Conley Reveals He Called Jess Edwards’ Parents Before Proposing in Costa Rica
Love is in the air!
Bachelor Nation saw Spencer Conley fall in love and get engaged to Jess Edwards during a beautiful proposal on the Season 10 finale of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
The two met on day one of “Paradise” and have shared a strong connection with each other ever since.
Now, Spencer is revealing that he was able to call Jess’ parents before getting down on one knee and proposing in Costa Rica.

In an interview with US Weekly, he said, “It’s not shown, but we had conversations about an engagement. And for me, I knew that my ‘be ready moment’ was when I knew [Jess] was going to be ready… I love that she handles everything with such gravity, because it’s a big decision, and it’s not necessarily depicted, but I do as well.”
Spencer then shared that he wasn’t going to propose to Jess unless he was able to talk to her parents beforehand.
“I got to talk to her parents — that was a huge thing for me,” he said. “I’m like, ‘I’m absolutely not [proposing] until I at least talk to her dad. Like, I would love to be able to see her dad in person, but I’m not getting down on one knee unless I talk to her dad at a bare minimum.”
Spencer continued, expressing his love for his new fiancée and what their connection means to him.

He shared, “We had those conversations, and the whole time throughout ‘Paradise,’ I wanted to move at her pace. I know how hard and rare it is to find someone like her, and I’ve never met anyone like her that I’ve had a connection with, literally, right off the bat. She was just so familiar and welcoming and felt like a slice of home in Costa Rica.”
The happy couple also got to leave “Paradise” with $190,000 and shared how they plan on using the prize money.
Jess said, “I’m paying off student loans. I don’t have too many, thankfully, but I do have a little bit, so starting there and then just planning for a future.” And Spencer chimed in, saying, “I think a huge chunk of it’s going to savings… And prior to the show, me and my best friend, we’re going to open some vacation rentals in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, which is an hour away from where [Jess] grew up — invisible string!”
So sweet! We couldn’t be happier for Jess and Spencer, and we’re wishing them a lifetime of happiness together!
