Scott Bakula’s New Star Trek Show Reveals Mother Of President Archer’s Son
Scott Bakula's proposed comeback series set decades after Star Trek: Enterprise gets an intriguing update regarding President Jonathan Archer's (Scott Bakula) children, and who the mother of one of Archer's sons is.
Michael Sussman conceives Star Trek: United as a prestige TV series in the vein of Star Wars: Andor; a political thriller set in the late 22nd century, where Jonathan Archer serves as the first President of the United Federation of Planets.
Star Trek: United is less a sequel to Star Trek: Enterprise than it is a spinoff, and Mike Sussman plans a complex family drama involving President Archer and his four adult children, who pursue different careers of serving the Federation, some perhaps at odds with their father.
Appearing on the Sci-Finatics podcast, Mike Sussman dropped fascinating new details about Star Trek: United, and he also reached out to ScreenRant to confirm the identity of the mother of one of President Archer's children. You can watch the podcast below:
One Of President Archer’s Children In Star Trek: United Uses His Mother’s Last Name: Hernandez
Captain Erika Hernandez was introduced in Star Trek: Enterprise season 4, and she appeared in three episodes, "Home," "Affliction," and "Divergence." Hernandez was the Captain of the NX-02 Columbia, Starfleet's second Warp 5-capable starship after Enterprise.
Hernandez was also Jonathan Archer's former flame. The relationship didn't work out because, as Erika told Jonathan, like him, she is "married to Starfleet." NX-02 Columbia launched in 2154 thanks to Commander Trip Tucker (Connor Trinneer), who transferred to Hernandez's ship and upgraded Columbia's warp engines.
Mike Sussman was quick to stress on Sci-Finatics that while Erika Hernandez is the mother of at least one of Jonathan Archer's children, it doesn't necessarily mean Erika and Jonathan ever got married.
Captain Hernandez's fate after Enterprise is an open question that Star Trek: United would address if Erika and Archer had a son together.
President Archer’s 4 Children In Star Trek United Explained
In Star Trek: United, President Archer's four children have lead roles, but they are scattered across the galaxy. One of Archer's children is in diplomacy, another works for Federation Intelligence (a separate organization from Starfleet Intelligence), and Jonathan's son, who uses "Hernandez" as his surname, is in Starfleet.
Mike Sussman pointed out that President Archer's offspring in Federation Intelligence does not work for Section 31, which Mike wants to move away from since Section 31 has been used often since
Sussman also explained that Archer's son uses "Hernandez" to avoid "preferential treatment" in Starfleet because of his famous father. This is an interesting detail since Erika Hernandez was also a Starfleet captain, of the second NX starship, no less. Perhaps this is a hint of Erika's career compared to Archer's.
Intriguingly, there is a fourth Archer child whom Michael Sussman hasn't described. Mike also hasn't elaborated on who the mother or mothers of Jonathan Archer's other children are in Star Trek: United
However, the fact that Star Trek: United depicts Jonathan Archer has moved beyond the 'lonely Captain of the Enterprise' trope and had children is gratifying, as this is a post-Enterprise life that has eluded many of Archer's successors like Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner).
Star Trek: United Is Not A Real Show (Yet)
Mike Sussman has only revealed dollops of information about Star Trek: United, and Sussman is quick to remind eager fans that
However, legendary concept artist and designer Andrew Probert has been working with Sussman on designs for President Archer's new starship, tentatively dubbed 'Starfleet One' or 'Federation One,' so various details about
Star Trek: United centers on Jonathan Archer and his family, but Mike Sussman has ideas on how to bring back various characters from
This could include Commander Trip Tucker, as Sussman hints that Trip's death in Star Trek: Enterprise's series finale may not have played out like it did in the episode's holodeck simulation where Tucker sacrificed himself to save Captain Archer from alien marauders.
The concept of Star Trek: United is powerful, intriguing, and unlike existing Star Trek series.
While
At the very least, fans now hope Star Trek: United gets made to learn more about President Archer's family, who the mother(s) of his children are, and get a clear picture of Jonathan Archer's life after his decade as Captain of the NX-01 in
Hollywood star Pedro Pascal sparks backlash with 'performative' appearance at No Kings rally

Pedro Pascal sparked fierce debate online after attending a 'No Kings' protest in Los Angeles
Over the weekend, The Last of Us star, 50, shared several photos from the event on Instagram, including one of himself raising his fist beside a fellow demonstrator wearing a 'Black Brown Unity' T-shirt.
Other pictures showed him kissing an inflatable unicorn and documenting the crowd holding signs that read 'FREEDOM' and 'I Am Antifa! Anti-Fascist, Anti-Racist.'
While Pascal's post drew hundreds of thousands of likes, it also ignited a wave of polarized reactions, with some praising his activism and others accusing him of out-of-touch performative politics.
One critic wrote, 'Pedro Pascal showing up at the No Kings protest is Hollywood hypocrisy at its best - millionaires playing revolution while lecturing everyone else about equality. Nothing says 'power to the people' like a celebrity photo op wrapped in expensive activism.'
Another user pushed back, replying, 'So you complain when celebrities stay quiet, and you also complain when they don't. Make it make sense.'

Others mocked the actor's participation, with one joking, 'Guess he's method prepping for his next role as a concerned citizen,' while another labeled him a 'leftist wingnut' that was 'quickly becoming one of the most disliked actors in the world.'
But just as many rushed to his defense, applauding him for using his platform to support progressive causes.
'The sign is absolutely brilliant! Pedro always knows exactly what to bring to the right protest. His dedication,' one fan wrote. Another praised, 'Thank you for being on the right side of history.'

For many, his continued outspokenness only deepened their respect.
'Oh we love when celebrities use their platform for good! He's been a legend for me ever since he spoke out in defense of trans rights a few months ago, and MAGA weirdos have made him the subject of their obsessions/fantasies ever since,' one fan said.
Another summed it up simply: 'Good on him! It takes guts to stand up for what you believe in, especially when you're in the spotlight. Can't blame a lad for using his fame for good!'

Pascal, whose younger sister, Lux, came out as a transgender woman in 2021, has been an outspoken ally for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Earlier this year, he wore a white T-shirt with 'Protect The Dolls' on the front of it to the premiere of Marvel's Thunderbolts in London.
The phrase 'doll' is commonly used in the queer community in reference to transgender women.
Pascal's T-shirt is by American fashion designer Conner Ives, who previously said that all proceeds generated from the sale of it would go to Trans Lifeline charity.

In June, Pascal doubled down on his criticisms of Harry Potter author JK Rowling over her gender-critical opinions.
The actor initially made the scathing 'heinous loser' remark in April on Instagram.
He was responding to activist Tariq Ra'ouf who was calling for a boycott of any future Harry Potter projects due to Rowling's outspoken stance on trans issues.
The British writer, 59, had celebrated a ruling by London's Supreme Court determining that, specifically within the terms of Britain's Equality act, 'woman' meant a biological female and not gender.
Rowling, who also writes under the pen name Robert Galbraith, has also been involved in wars of words over the subject with Sir Stephen Fry, Boy George and the three young actors who played the main trio in the original Harry Potter movies.

Pascal has previously shown his support for the transgender community, earlier this year sharing on Instagram the quote: 'A world without trans people has never existed and never will.'
He added in his caption: 'I can't think of anything more vile and small and pathetic than terrorizing the smallest, most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you, except the right to exist.'
The actor has previously told of being fiercely protective of Lux, while also describing her as a 'powerful' personality who did not need to rely on him for support - adding: 'I need her more than she needs me.'
In a previous interview, he told Esquire magazine: 'I wouldn't want to speak on her behalf but she is and has always been one of the most powerful people and personalities I've ever known.
'My protective side is lethal, but I need her more than she needs me.'
