Rams Hidden Gem Named Candidate For Award This Season
Most eyes were on pass rusher Jared Verse this season on the defensive side of the ball for the Los Angeles Rams.
The former Florida State Seminole won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award and had an impressive game in the 2025 NFC Divisional Round against the eventual Super Bowl winners, the
While Verse has earned the right to be named as the best player on the Los Angeles Rams defense, there is one under-acknowledged player on the defensive front.
EDGE rusher Byron Young has been a quiet killer for opposing offenses this season for LA. The defender leads the team in sacks, most tackles for loss and is fourth on the team in total tackles.
One NFL writer believes the player should be named a candidate for an award this season.
Byron Young Named DPOY Candidate

Through just seven games in the 2025 season, Byron Young has achieved a career high in sacks in a single season.
In his rookie year with the Los Angeles Rams, the EDGE rusher logged 8 sacks in 17 games. In 7 games this season? Young has logged 9 sacks, currently leading the league.
The former Tennessee Volunteer is on track to register over 20 sacks this season and could surpass Rams legend Aaron Donald’s record of 20.5 sacks in a single season.
Sports Illustrated’s Brock Vierra names the pass rusher (and Jared Verse) as a
“Jared Verse had his first sack of the game on the very first play from scrimmage, adding two more QB hits. Young secured 1.5 sacks to retake the lead on the NFL’s sack leaderboards before
“Regardless, these two players have been monsters among men and will be gunning for the most important defensive award in the NFL.”
In Contention For Different Accolades

As mentioned earlier, Byron Young has achieved a new career high in sacks after seven games.
If Young continues to perform, barring an injury, he will have his name in contention for the Most Improved Player Award.
The player continues to make his name known after each week and could also receive two different honors.
As the sack leader, it should put his name in the draw to become a Pro Bowler and an All-Pro, which would both be career firsts for the defender.

Bears Officially Have A Shot At Maxx Crosby. Here’s The Price Tag

Maxx Crosby has been surrounded by trade rumors for months. However, they never quite got serious. The Las Vegas Raiders were determined to keep their superstar pass rusher and produce a winner under new head coach Pete Carroll. That has not happened. The Raiders are 2-5 and appear to be one of the NFL’s worst teams. They lost 40-6 against Indianapolis three weeks ago and then were crushed 31-0 by Kansas City last week. It’s beyond obvious that the team is going nowhere and is in desperate need of revamping. For that, they need draft picks. The easiest way to get them is by trading their best players.
Word has leaked that the Raiders are now seriously considering offers for Crosby. It makes sense. He’s 28 years old and still every bit as dominant as he’s been for years. His value will never be higher than it is right now. Jeff Hughes of Sports Mockery confirmed the rumors, stating Crosby is available. He also revealed what the price tag will be for the Chicago Bears and any other teams that might be interested.
— DaBearsBlog (@dabearsblog) October 21, 2025I’m told Maxx Crosby is available.
I’m also told “start stacking 1s”.
Maxx Crosby is a stud and the Bears are a viable landing spot.
If and when the Raiders trade him, they will likely prefer sending him somewhere they won’t have to play against him. Chicago resides in the NFC and already played Las Vegas last month. The two teams are unlikely to meet again until four years from now. It is a great setup from their perspective. However, there are complications for the Bears. This sort of trade is only made when you’re convinced it will turn you into a Super Bowl contender. Yes, they’ve won four in a row, but are Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson sold on this team being that far along? That seems unlikely.
The Bears’ GM has never made a blockbuster trade of this magnitude. In fact, he has spoken out against them, believing that the short-term gain is almost never worth the long-term ramifications. Then there is the money issue. Crosby is signed through 2029 at $29-30 million per year. Chicago is thin on cap space next year ($2.8 million). They don’t have any clear ways to find more, other than restructuring current contracts, which creates more long-term problems.
