NBA insider provides crucial injury update on rookie Adou Thiero that LA Lakers fans will love
The LA Lakers drafted Adou Thiero, but the rookie hasn’t featured for them yet due to an injury.
The Los Angeles Lakers have made some big moves this offseason. The team is ready to compete at the highest level next season.
While the signings of Jake LaRavia and Deandre Ayton are quite strong, the Lakers did need to add some youth to their roster.
Luckily, the Lakers landed a second-round pick from the Brooklyn Nets. With that pick, the Lakers selected Adou Thiero in the 2025 NBA Draft.
However, Thiero’s injury kept him out of the Lakers’ Summer League campaign. While Thiero returned to Lakers training recently, the latest update on his health will have fans jumping for joy.

Adou Thiero expected to have big role on LA Lakers next season
Dan Woike did a Q&A piece on The Athletic recently. When talking about LA Lakers rookie Adou Thiero, he shed some insight into his situation.
Thiero is back in training and working towards a huge role. The Lakers want him to make an impact on the defensive end, as he has the tools to do so.
“There were definitely some eyebrows raised around the NBA when Thiero missed summer league with a knee issue, but I can finally offer a little optimism.
“I’ve been told Thiero has been working out in the Lakers’ facility and is expected to be participating once training camp opens at the end of September. As far as his role? It’s gonna be crowded.
“But it’s sort of a universal truth in the NBA. If young players want to get on the court, they do it by making an impact on the defensive end. And Thiero has the tools to make an impact on the defensive end.”
Thiero isn’t the only impressive Lakers youngster looking to make an impact last season, especially after a disappointing Summer League performance.
NBA scouts not concerned with Dalton Knecht’s poor form
While Adou Thiero didn’t feature for the LA Lakers in the Summer League, Dalton Knecht did. The sharpshooter didn’t perform well. But according to Woike, scouts around the league aren’t worried about his performances.
“I won’t go too in-depth on Knecht, other than to say that I think NBA evaluators haven’t put much stock into his summer-league performance.”
Dalton Knecht had a disappointing stint in the Summer League. The LA Lakers had to rely on their other stars while Knecht struggled at the tournament.
Fans even speculated that the Lakers could trade Knecht before the start of the season. But it appears that isn’t the case.
Hopefully, Knecht can redeem his Summer League performances by playing really well for the Lakers next season.
