Miami Dolphins’ All Pro Considering Retirement
When the Miami Dolphins played the New York Jets this season, they won something important and lost something important. Sure they won their only game of the season, but they also lost arguably their best player in wide receiver
The 31-year old went down for the year with a gruesome don’t-show-the-replay-again knee injury.
Was it bad enough that the former All Pro would consider hanging them up for good?
“At the end of the day, I feel like that decision is based upon how I feel and where my mindset is at the moment,” Hill said on Terrod Armstead’s podcast
“I’m at the point now where I need to have a conversation with mom, family, everybody. Wherever my mind is at the time, the decision will be made, but I know right now, I haven’t had time to live in the moment.”
Raise your hand if you had the possibility of Hill retiring before Tua Tagovailoa on your Bingo card.
Tyreek Hill talks about that fateful play
During the September 29th game in Miami, Hill was dragged down near the sideline and twisted awkwardly. It was a gruesome injury and Hill recalls it vividly.
“When I got tackled, I immediately tried to get up…I’d seen that my leg was crooked,” Hill said. “I immediately started laughing because I’ve been able to play this game for 10 years, really my entire life, and I’ve been blessed with great talents and great gifts. The amount of support I get from my family, it’s amazing. So I really wasn’t even thinking about the injury. I was thinking about the great times I’ve had playing this game.”
I honestly didn’t realize that he’d thought about retirement this seriously. But, it makes sense when you are 31-years old and your game is reliant on your speed. Let’s be honest, Hill wouldn’t be in the
For what it’s worth, he seems awfully calm about the decision and will be comfortable with whatever he decides.
“I just want to be in this moment with my family,” he said. “I don’t want to make any rash decisions.”
Tyreek Hill thinks the Dolphins can turn the season around
So, what does Tyreek think of his team now that he’s gone and he gets to watch the dumpster fire from afar? He talked about the circus that usually centers around head coach Mike McDaniel and Tua (and Tyreek himself if we’re being honest).
“You know how it is when you’re 1-5. Everybody’s got something to say,” Hill said. “Everybody’s apparently on the hot seat. It’s a tough situation. When we were winning, things were good. People could say whatever, and it would just go out the window. I’m going to support Tua regardless of what he’s got going on because that’s my brother. I kind of can feel what he’s saying. That should show people that he wants to win.”
The Dolphins travel to Atlanta this weekend to take on the Falcons. The way the Falcons have been up and down this year, the Dolphins may actually be able to double their win total.
