Latest 2026 NFL mock draft has Eagles selecting Dallas Goedert's replacement
It's never too early for a mock draft, right?
Well, Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski didn't think so, as the writer put out some shocking picks that he believes NFL general managers will be making next spring. While there is plenty of time for college football to raise or lower their draft stock this season, as of right now, Solbeski has Eagles general manager Howie Roseman taking Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
"Longtime Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert almost certainly won't be a part of the roster beyond his eight seasons with the franchise and possibly even sooner.
Whereas, Oregon's Kenyon Sadiq could eventually emerge as TE1 throughout his junior campaign and provide the Eagles offense with yet another weapon."
Could Sadiq be the next great Eagles tight end and replace Dallas Goedert?
The Eagles have been extremely spoiled at tight end for at least my whole lifespan. Going back to 1999, Chad Lewis earned three NFL Pro Bowls from 2000 to 2002, paving the way for L.J. Smith, who amassed over 225 receptions in his career with Philadelphia. Smith would hand the "baton" to Brent Celek, who earned a Super Bowl ring, while totaling 398 receptions for 4,998 yards from 2007 to 2017, which then led to Zach Ertz setting records and earning Pro Bowls from 2013 to 2021.
Since Ertz's departure, the "safety blanket" has been filled by the 2018 second-round pick out of South Dakota, Dallas Goedert, who will now be in his eighth season in Philadelphia. After a renegotiation, he is in his last year of a four-year, $ 57 million extension signed in 2021. Goedert now in his age 30 season (turning 31 in 2026) seems to be in an all too familiar position that his predecessors have seen as well.
With Goedert almost certainly on his way "out", the Eagles are in a position to begin transitioning to the next stalwart at tight end. They will almost certainly address the position in this year's draft class, as the team does not have any tight ends under contract in 2026. Grant Calcaterra does have an opportunity to earn an extension this year, but he may not be more than a bridge option for the tight end of the future.
Roseman has done an awesome job of continuing to find gems in the ever-growing, convoluted draft process. With a player like Sadiq, the Eagles can continue their strong legacy of exceptional tight end play in the new millennium. Many draft analysts rate Sadiq as a top-three tight end, and with 2025 Rams draft pick Terrance Ferguson no longer at Oregon, Sadiq should be one of the Ducks' main focal points this coming college football season.
Sadiq will still need to grow a bit more into his current frame; however, he does create matchup problems for linebackers with his deep-ball production. Sadiq, as of right now, will translate into an immediate receiving threat; however, needing time to grow in the run game.
