Bishop made an extremely athletic one handed catch to pick off… Chris Olave?
No, that’s not an error. On a third and goal from the six yard line, the Saints went deep into their playbook to call a trick play, where QB Spencer Rattler handed the ball off to Rashid Shaheed, who then flipped the ball back to Olave. Rattler, after making the initial handoff, sprinted towards the front pylon of the end zone as Olave threw the ball up.
Bishop made a great read to cut towards Rattler and leapt in the air to catch the pass with one hand and get the ball back for his team. It was the first interception of Bishop’s NFL career, and it was a big one, as he kept the Saints from adding points to a 14-10 game at the end of the first half.
Allen Compares Bishop’s Pick To Micah Hyde
In Josh Allen’s postgame press conference, a media member brought up Bishop’s pick to Allen, calling it “Micah Hyde-ish.” Allen responded with overwhelming agreement.
“It was, I’d agree there. Body language and body control very much so,” Allen said.
That’s high praise from an important teammate for the second-year safety who started just four games in 2024. Hyde was a two-time All-Pro and had 24 interceptions in his NFL career, so for Allen to compare his young teammate to a player of that caliber says a lot about how Bishop has evolved already early in his career.
Bishop’s interception was a tide-turner at that juncture of the game.
“It kept them out of points before the half and [the Saints] were receiving the ball in the second half so, we call that double-dipping,” Allen said. “We stopped them before the half and three-and-out coming out of halftime and we got the ball and scored. That’s situational football… just happy we could go out there and execute that.”
Bishop also spoke to the media about his interception.
“It was awesome,” Bishop said. “I’m just trying to go out there and do my job, help my team as much as I can so it was awesome being able to make a play there, that was huge.”
Undefeated Bills To Host New England On SNF In Week 5
Buffalo will look to maintain it’s undefeated status in week five when it plays host to the suddenly hot New England Patriots for the first time this season.
Although the Patriots have had their fair share of struggles the last few seasons, this is a rivalry matchup that never fails to entertain. Now that New England has found it’s footing after a 42-13 rout of the Carolina Panthers, this matchup will be in contention for game of the week in week five.
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has drawn plenty of comparison to Josh Allen early in his career, as he profiles as a similar dual-threat type of player with a big arm. The two faced off for the first time last December, when the Bills narrowly defeated the Patriots 24-21. It was one of the best games Maye had as a rookie, as he passed for 261 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.
Football fans will be treated to what should be another thrilling edition of a great NFL rivalry on Sunday, Oct. 5.
