The Eagles' decision to trade for Bigsby early in the season said a lot, and now, Dillon is clearly no longer in their plans.
Eagles are finding out what Packers fans already knew about A.J. Dillon
The Green Bay Packers moved on from several high draft picks in the offseason, including former first-rounder Eric Stokes and second-round choice Josh Myers. They also opted not to re-sign A.J. Dillon, their 2020 second-round pick.
Green Bay expected Dillon to become the perfect complement to Aaron Jones in the rushing attack, providing the ability to break tackles and add yards after contact. But it never happened. In 2023, Dillon produced a career-low 3.4 yards per carry and an average of just 2.69 yards after contact per attempt. He didn't play last season due to injury.
The Packers chose not to bring him back this past offseason, and he instead signed a one-year, $1.3 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. But Dillon is seemingly no longer part of the Eagles' plans this season.
A.J. Dillon has become a weekly healthy scratch for Eagles
There was plenty of buzz about Dillon during Eagles camp this summer, with many believing he could become the tackle-breaking running back they needed to complement All-Pro Saquon Barkley. But despite playing behind a better run-blocking offensive line, the results haven't been there. Packers fans saw this play out throughout his time in Green Bay.
Dillon had six carries in the Eagles' opening two contests, but just six more over the next four. Tank Bigsby, whom they traded for in September, and Will Shipley have overtaken Dillon on the depth chart, and the former Packer has now been a healthy scratch for the past four games. That included his return to Lambeau in Week 10.
"Dillon has not shown up in an Eagles game since their first matchup against the New York Giants, where he muffed a kickoff return and fumbled on offense within a few plays of each other,"
"It's a disappointment to Eagles fans, as there were high hopes for Dillon potentially being the downhill runner while Saquon Barkley could be the speed breakaway guy."
Packers fans will remember Dillon's 124-yard, two-touchdown game in a snowy Lambeau Field against the Tennessee Titans in 2020, his rookie season. It provided hope of what was to come, especially after the team moved on from Jamaal Williams.
But outside of a few tough runs here and there, Dillon never rediscovered his production from that evening.
It seems inevitable that his time with the Eagles will come to an end following this season. He is now their RB4 behind Barkley, Bigsby, and Shipley.
Unfortunately, as much as Packers fans loved Dillon during his five-year stay in Green Bay, they saw this coming. Dillon rarely provided the tackle-breaking runs everyone expected. That role now belongs to Josh Jacobs and Emanuel Wilson in Matt LaFleur's offense.
Lions Share Heartfelt Al-Quadin Muhammad Game Ball Moment After Ravens Win

Al-Quadin Muhammad shared a strong message after earning a game ball for his play in the Lions win over the Ravens

The Detroit Lions pulled off an upset 38-30 victory over the Baltimore Ravens to close out Week 3 on Monday Night Football, and it’s clear this could end up being a defining win for the Lions as the season rolls on. After suffering an ugly Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers, Detroit has now rattled off a pair of big bounce-back wins to put itself back on track in the NFC North division.
One of the keys to victory for the Lions was their ability to get to Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, as they sacked him seven times on Monday night. The surprise ring-leader of that group was veteran defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad, and after he earned a game ball from head coach Dan Campbell, he issued a heartfelt message to his teammates that quickly went viral on social media.
Al-Quadin Muhammad’s Heartfelt Message After Earning Game Ball
The first thing many folks notice when watching the Lions is their high-powered offense, and it’s not too hard to see why. With Jared Goff under center and star playmakers like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, and Sam LaPorta, Detroit is one of the most difficult teams to slow down when they are firing on all cylinders.
Against the Ravens, though, it was their defense that led the way. While they gave up 31 points, they continually pressured Jackson throughout the game, while also silencing superstar running back Derrick Henry for much of the night. With the offense doing its job, the defense’s ability to limit Baltimore led them to victory.
Muhammad was the unexpected hero in this game, as he racked up four tackles and 2.5 sacks for Detroit on Monday night. Considering how he was out of football at the beginning of last season, it’s been quite a turnaround for Muhammad, and he noted that after he received his game ball from Campbell in the wake of his big performance.
“I wanna thank every player, every coach, everybody that’s in this organization, because about a year ago, I was home, I was on the couch,” Muhammad said to the rest of his team. “So when you get a f***ing opportunity, you make sure you take advantage of it. I wanna also thank the guys in my room for helping me out this week. Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to do what I did tonight.”
Lions Looking to Continue Winning Ways in Week 4

GettyThe Detroit Lions have made a big announcement following the team’s win over the Baltimore Ravens on Monday.
Muhammad’s star performance ended up being just what the Lions needed to get past the Ravens, and their 2-1 record puts them in line with the Packers and Minnesota Vikings at the top of their division. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but after it appeared the sky was falling in the wake of the team’s loss to the Packers, they are fully back on track in the wake of this victory.
There’s still a lot of work left to do this season for the Lions, and they will look to carry the positive momentum into Week 4, where they will square off against the Cleveland Browns. This may seem like a favorable matchup for Detroit, but the Browns just stunned the Packers in Week 3, so they are capable of competing against the top teams in the league. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, as Detroit will be looking to earn its third straight win.
