Colin Cowherd offers Dolphins fans sliver of hope with latest Tua Tagovailoa talk
Miami Dolphins fans have reached the point where they don't care if Tua Tagovailoa, Chris Grier, and the rest of the organization are sold off in pieces. They want change, but they also know they are stuck in a cycle that isn't slowing down.
Over the years, FOX Sports' Colin Cowherd has been at the tip of the Dolphins fandom spear. His takes on the organization, especially Tagovailoa, have been brutal, but now we are seeing they are also accurate. Hopefully, his latest assessment will come to fruition as well.
olin Cowherd believes Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa can be traded because another team will want him
The NFL is a weird place to do business. Players can be a bust on one team and an All-Pro on another. Fans don't have to look far to see how it has turned out for guys like Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, or Jared Goff. At some point, the Dolphins are going to shake the tree and watch Tagovailoa fall off of it. Cowherd sees another team taking a shot.
This past offseason, there were reports that a couple of teams were keeping an eye on what the Dolphins might do with Tagovailoa. While most believed he was never on the market, there was speculation that several teams would be open to having him on their roster.
It's unlikely that changes next offseason. Despite the horrible season he has had thus far in 2025, there will be teams willing to take a shot on him given his level of accuracy. With Miami's luck, Tagovailoa will turn into an All-Pro.
For now, Dolphins fans can take comfort in knowing that there may be a silver lining to all of this yet, and while Miami isn't likely to move their quarterback this upcoming offseason, the draft is setting up nicely for them to select a quarterback early once again.
Ex-Lions QB Matthew Stafford Gets News That Changes His Season

Former Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford will always be a part of the Motor City, but ever since he left Detroit to go to the Los Angeles Rams, he’s been on the other side of the NFC. It’s always a jarring thing when Stafford and the Rams have to play quarterback Jared Goff and the Lions, but as long as Detroit comes out on top, it’s all smooth sailing.
Well, it certainly hasn’t been smooth anything for Stafford this offseason. He’s been dealing with an injury that has kept the signal-caller off the field for much of the team’s practice time. Finally, just this week, he returned to practice, and it’s been touch and go. Even though the Detroit Lions don’t want to see Stafford lead the Rams to another championship, they also don’t wish ill on him, so plenty in the Motor City are also hoping for a good outcome for their former quarterback.
Now, following the former Detroit Lions quarterback’s second day of practice on Tuesday, August 19, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay talked about Stafford’s performance and where he is in his injury. Because, whenever a franchise signal-caller is derailed in the preseason, there’s always the chance of that player not being reliable in the regular season.
Former Detroit Lions Quarterback Matthew Stafford Gets Big Update
After practice on Tuesday, August 19, McVay gave an important update on Stafford’s condition. Stafford practiced for the first time on Monday, August 18, so this marked his second day back in action.
McVay’s news was positive, and it implies that Stafford will be good to go for what may be his final season with the Rams. Stafford’s contract with the Los Angeles Rams a two-year, $8.4 million contract, including $8 million guaranteed. So, it’s a short-term contract, but he was expected to play out the year, at the very least.
“I thought he looked good,” McVay told reporters in a conference. “I thought he looked better than yesterday. I thought it was a step in the right direction and we’re going to continue to hope that he’s able to stack days and feel good. That’s what’s happened so far.”
McVay continued, describing some specifics that he liked, noting, “I thought there were some good rushes that we had where he had to move and manipulate the pocket, activated all parts of the field. So, I think yesterday was good for him to be able to get a feel. I don’t know — I think it was good for him to be able to go through the whole practice. You could see, as he gets himself immersed in team activities, he’s just totally present and getting his feet wet a little bit.”
Matthew Stafford is ‘Trending’ in a Certain Direction
Once again, McVay added that he thought Tuesday’s practice was certainly “a positive step in the right direction and we’re going to continue to hopefully stack days like that.”
At the same time, he didn’t make any promises. “The reality is we’re trying to get our hands on this and get him to feel as good as possible,” McVay said, according to Sarah Barshop of ESPN. He added that even though “backs can be a volatile thing,” what he’s seeing in Stafford is “certainly is trending in a positive direction.”
Injuries are never a good thing in the NFL. So, even though Stafford is heading up a different NFC team, we still wish him the best.
