Celtics officially cut ties with skilled 6-foot-8 wing, G-League 3-point threat
The 2025-26 NBA season is right around the corner, and the Boston Celtics' front office recently decided to drop a few more names from their roster before opening night.
Boston had to take a massive chunk out of their top-end talent this offseason thanks to the league's new tax apron rules, and now the storied franchise has been forced to make another batch of cuts.
According to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, the Celtics let go of talented G-League prospect Jalen Bridges, a 6-foot-8 wing with clear floor-spacing potential, among others.
"The Boston Celtics have waived Jalen Bridges, Kendall Brown, and Wendell Moore, league sources told HoopsHype," Scotto shared via X on Thursday.
"Ron Harper Jr. filled Boston's vacant two-way spot following the departure of RJ Luis."
At just 24 years old, Bridges displayed plenty of potential for the G-League's Valley Suns in 2024-25, as he contributed 14.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 0.7 blocks while knocking down 38.6% of his looks from three-point range in 31 appearances in the regular season.
Bridges has played sparingly at the NBA level for the Phoenix Suns this past season, averaging 1.1 points and 0.5 rebounds in just 3.8 minutes of burn. Still, the Celtics saw enough out from the Baylor University product to bring him along as a member of their preseason roster.
Unfortunately for the athletic forward, his box score figures of 2.3 points and 1.3 rebounds on a horrid 27.3% field goal percentage in three preseason contests was not enough to keep him along for the regular season ride.
While he may not be suiting up with the Celtics in 2025-26, there's certainly another spot for Bridges either on the end of an NBA team's bench or as a starting small forward in the G-League moving forward.
