Browns Adding 4.39-Second Speedster on Unusual Multiyear Pact
The Cleveland Browns are expected to sign undrafted rookie receiver Isaiah Bond to a multiyear deal on Sunday.
The Browns have been doing their due diligence on Bond since he was cleared of his legal troubles early this week.
Bond was arrested in April after a woman alleged a non-consensual encounter. Some had Bond projected as a mid-round pick but he went undrafted as teams awaited the case’s outcome. Bond turned himself in to Frisco police on a sexual assault warrant in April and was released on $25,000 bond. After reviewing the evidence, a grand jury returned a no-bill — declining to indict — on Thursday, clearing the way for him to sign immediately with any team as an undrafted free agent.
Shortly after it was announced that he wouldn’t be charged, Bond released a statement saying he had signed with the Browns.
“First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Cleveland Browns for believing in me and allowing me the opportunity to continue my career in the NFL,” Bond said. “Football has been my passion since I was six years old, and playing at this level is a blessing I will never take for granted. I understand that playing in the NFL is a privilege, and I’m thankful every day to live my childhood dream.
“Learning this offense, building strong relationships with my teammates, and making significant contributions within the Cleveland community. I’m determined to prove the Browns organization and everyone who believes in me right for putting their trust in me.”
Browns Signing Isaiah Bond to 3-Year Deal
The Browns have yet to officially announce the signing of Bond, despite his announcement. However, Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com said the signing is expected on Sunday and the deal will be for three years.
“Former Texas WR Isaiah Bond arrived in CLE Sat night and is set to sign a 3 yr deal w/the Browns today after charges were dropped,” Cabot said on X. “Was a 3rd rnd projection who runs a 4.39. Played for Browns OC Tommy Rees at Alabama.”

A multiyear deal for an undrafted free agent is not common. But for the Browns, it could be a major score if Bond lives up to his potential.
Bond having familiarity with new offensive coordinator Tommy Rees is also a score for Cleveland. Bond spent two seasons at Alabama — where Rees was the offensive coordinator — before transferring to Texas.
Browns Have Uncertainty at Receiver
The Browns have little certainty in their wide receiver corps outside of Jerry Jeudy. Cleveland is hoping that Cedric Tillman can thrive in a larger role but he still has to prove himself. Tillman has just 50 catches for 563 yards over his two seasons.
Jamari Thrash — a former fifth-round pick — has also been a camp standout. He had a big preseason outing against the Eagles, catching four passes for 43 yards. Undrafted rookie Gage Larvadain and Kaden Davis have also made an impact.
The Browns have one more preseason game left against the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said it will serve as a dress rehearsal for the regular season, which opens on September 7.
