BREAKING: Jets Pull the Trigger, Trade Former 1st-Round Pick DE to Bears – New York Fans Erupt: "Keep Him!"
Florham Park, NJ – October 22, 2025 – In a shocking move just over a week before the November 4 trade deadline, the New York Jets have officially traded former first-round pick defensive end Jermaine Johnson II to the Chicago Bears for a conditional 2026 third-round pick (upgradable to second if Bears make playoffs) plus EDGE depth piece Daniel Hardy. Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Bears were a "perfect trade fit" for Johnson—but the deal has ignited a firestorm from Jets fans, with #KeepJermaine trending #1 in New York on X:
"Keep him! This is Aaron Glenn's biggest mistake!"

The drama unfolded amid the Jets' nightmare 0-6 start. Fowler dropped the bomb last week: "The Chicago Bears are considered a trade fit for NY Jets former 1st round pick DE Jermaine Johnson. #DaBears."
After Sunday's 6-13 loss to the Panthers (Oct 20), HC Aaron Glenn and GM Joe Douglas hit "sell mode" for a rebuild. Johnson, 25, in the final year of his rookie deal ($3.7M base 2025), was benched behind Will McDonald IV. His 2025 stats: 2 sacks, 15 tackles in 6 games—down from 7.5 sacks in 2024—made him expendable. The Bears (4-2, NFC North contenders), desperate for EDGE depth next to Montez Sweat (3 sacks), pounced to boost Caleb Williams' protection.
Deal finalized Tuesday (Oct 21). For Chicago, it's a steal: The Florida star (No. 26 pick by Jets in 2021) had 11.5 sacks over his first two seasons and is a Pro Bowl candidate. GM Ryan Poles plans to pick up his $13.4M fifth-year option in 2026. Jets, meanwhile, eye more sell-offs like Breece Hall or Allen Lazard (per Fowler). But fans are furious—X exploded with 20K+ likes on posts like:
"Trading Jermaine? He's our pass-rush future! Douglas is ruining the Jets!" #JetsSuck and #FireGlenn trended, with a "Save Jermaine" petition hitting 15K signatures in 24 hours.
For Johnson, it's a fresh start: From Florida Gators standout to Jets 3-4 scheme bust, now Bears cornerstone. In New York, he was grit personified—mentoring rookies like Olu Fashanu and shutting down Lamar Jackson in practice. MetLife chants of
"Jer-maine!" have turned to boos: "Keep him—we need him to save the season!"
Will Bears turn Johnson All-Pro with Sweat? Or will Jets regret the cheap gem? Deadline chaos has never been this bitter—Gang Green is imploding!
Steelers Have Shown Interest in $33 Million Wide Receiver: Insider

The Pittsburgh Steelers are leading the way in the AFC North with a 4-2 record through six weeks, and while they are fresh off a surprising loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7, there are still a lot of reasons to feel good about the team’s performance so far this season. However, it’s clear that there are some areas of need the front office could be looking to address ahead of the trade deadline.

One such area is the wide receiver, where a No. 2 option has failed to emerge behind DK Metcalf to this point. With several players expected to be on the market ahead of the upcoming deadline, reports have indicated that the Steelers are showing interest in star Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.
Steelers Exploring Potential Jakobi Meyers Trade
Over the offseason, Pittsburgh swung a massive trade with the Seattle Seahawks for wide receiver DK Metcalf, seemingly giving them a solid tandem at wide receiver with George Pickens also in town. Pickens ended up getting traded to the Dallas Cowboys, though, and guys like Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson have struggled to step up and produce alongside Metcalf.
That could lead to a potential deal for Meyers, who has been viewed as a trade target all season long. With Meyers entering the final year of his contract with the Raiders, he wanted a new deal that he did not get during the offseason, leading to him requesting a trade before the start of the season. While he has continued playing for Las Vegas, he still wants to get dealt before the upcoming deadline.
The Steelers need help at wide receiver, which makes them an obvious potential landing spot for Meyers should the Raiders decide to unload him. According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Meyers is just one of several wide receiver trade targets that Pittsburgh has checked in on with the deadline drawing near.
“Pittsburgh, they are scouring the earth for wide receiver help, they’re looking around,” Fowler said on “SportsCenter.” “Las Vegas has Jakobi Meyers as an option … There could be a receiver moved at the deadline. Pittsburgh could be involved in those conversations.”
Should the Steelers Trade for Jakobi Meyers?

Despite playing in the Raiders’ abysmal offense, Meyers has still managed to put up decent numbers through six games, catching 29 passes for 329 yards. On paper, he’d be a solid complement for the big-play threat that Metcalf is, as Meyers excels at working out of the slot and getting open on short-to-intermediate routes.
If Meyers is up for grabs, the Steelers would be foolish not to try to get a deal done for him. Bringing him to town wouldn’t only give Rodgers another reliable option in the passing game, but it would also take some of the attention off of Metcalf from opposing secondaries. He may be a somewhat pricy option, but after putting together an aggressive offseason, swinging a deal for Meyers seems like a real possibility with the trade deadline just over a week away.

Clayton Johnson Worked with Del Rey After Their Split
A musician based in Nashville, Tennessee, Clayton Johnson shared in July 2024 that he had worked with Del Rey on her music, despite the two going their separate ways. Johnson revealed that he helped write her song, “Tough,” featuring Quavo.
In an Instagram post, Johnson shared the voice notes for the song, and he could be heard singing what would become the intro to Del Rey’s tune. A third photo showed the songstress in the studio.
“Back in January, Lana and I sat in Nashville free styling songs on an acoustic guitar about imaginary animals and Oliver’s chew toys. I showed her a few songs I had been working on, and played her a song idea from a different session,” he captioned his post.
He continued, “She had a vision for it. Her and Jack gave me a call when she got home and asked if we could rework this voice note idea that I sent over for “Tough.” The rest is history. Thank you to the other original writers that carved this thing out together in Nashville, and thank you to Quavo, Jack, Cirkut, Andrew, and especially Lana for having the vision to take this voice note and turn it into something special. TOUGH out now.”
Looking at Johnson’s Instagram, he released his first EP, “Live to Learn,” in May, and performs across the U.S. If he makes it far on “The Bachelorette,” will fans get to see him serenade Paul?
