The bromance between Shep Rose and Whitney Sudler-Smith is still very much alive.
Fans got another peek at the friendship on Tuesday, September 30, as Shep closed out his birthday month with a trip across the pond. The
“Wonderous lunch at venerable [White’s],” the original post was captioned.
Whitney, who studied at England’s Oxford University, also gave a shoutout to his friend Alex Brunner and the “legendary” Lord Robert Hanson, who accompanied him and Shep to lunch.

Shep touched on the afternoon get-together in an earlier Instagram video in which he expressed his distaste for a popular UK hairstyle.

“Just had a nice late lunch and day in London with Whitney and his buddies,” he began. “And I’m starting to see a haircut around London — and maybe Great Britain, in general — where it looks like someone sawed a period at the end of a sentence in half and stuck it on top of people’s heads… I’m wondering, what the F is that? Who thinks that’s attractive or appealing? Not that you do everything to be attractive and appealing, but let’s just say this: If it was an animal in the wild trying to attract a mate, it would be a long, lonely winter. That’s my opinion. I could be wrong.”
Shep Rose attends Chelsea F.C. game with Whitney Sudler-Smith
Shep ended the day at the Stamford Bridge stadium, where he and Whitney watched the Chelsea vs. Benfica soccer game. Shep said he became a member of The Blues (Chelsea FC’s fanbase) during his days of selling real estate in the United Arab Emirates.
“I’m a Chelsea fan from way back,” he said while in the stands. “When I lived in Dubai, my friend was a huge Chelsea fan. He’s a Brit. So, here I am carrying on the tradition. Very excited.”
Shep also shared highlights of the September 30 match, which saw Chelsea defeat Benica, 1-0.

Garrett Crochet Makes ‘Arrogant’ Admission After Red Sox-Yankees Game
The Boston Red Sox acquired Garrett Crochet this past offseason for performances like he had on Tuesday. The ace southpaw allowed just one run on four hits across 7.2 innings in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series against the New York Yankees on Tuesday.
Crochet also notched 11 strikeouts against no walks and threw 78 strikes out of a career-high 117 pitches. The only run the 26-year-old gave up was on a solo homer by Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe in the second inning.
Crochet struck out New York center fielder Trent Grisham to start the bottom of the eighth before giving up a single to Volpe. The 6-foot-6, 245-pounder then struck out catcher Austin Wells on a 3-2 count before closer Aroldis Chapman took over and recorded a four-out save.
In his postgame presser, Red Sox manager Alex Cora claimed Crochet told him on Monday that he’d only make one call to the bullpen, via NESN.
“He was in the dugout with me… he’s like, ‘No, ONE. It’s gonna be straight to Chappy,'” Cora said.
Crochet then opened up about the story via NESN.
“Just being arrogant to be honest,” the veteran said. “I didn’t actually expect that to be the case, but when he sent me back out there, I was determined to leave it that way.”
Asked if he wished he could throw 130-pitch complete games every five days, Crochet smiled and said:
“I’m not sure that would be sustainable with my velocity. I’m not sure how hard they were throwing back then, but I like to think that I’m prepared to do that even in today’s game.”
Red Sox One Win Away From Advancing
Boston now must beat New York just one more time to face the Toronto Blue Jays in the Division Series. Right-handed pitcher Brayan Bello will start for the Red Sox against Yankees southpaw Carlos Rodon in Game 2 on Wednesday.
New York has the pitching advantage on paper, as Bello went 11-9 with a 3.35 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over 29 regular-season appearances, while Rodon went 18-9 with a 3.09 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 33 starts. The latter hurler was tied for second in baseball in wins while ranking 14th in ERA and 10th in WHIP. He also ranked 10th with 203 strikeouts.
However, the Yankees will be under more pressure, as their season will end if they lose. If they win, they’ll force a Game 3 at Yankee Stadium on Thursday night.
